So, I’ve been on vacation for about three weeks and as Christmas is pretty much here things are going to change between now and New Years Day (when things will change again), so it’s a good time to stop and look at what I managed to get done in that time.
As per usual, DVDs and TV shows/movies are doing the best. In fact, they did so well that it actually caused a problem for me, as I finished Charmed and Babylon 5/Crusade so quickly that I had to try to find something else to watch, which didn’t work out that well as I tried the original Battlestar Galactica series (which petered out because the episodes are arranged eccentrically on the disk which meant that I’d have to get up to change disks at times when I wouldn’t want to) and Space: Above and Beyond (which petered out because I really wasn’t in the mood for a show that serious). Instead, I watched Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame back-to-back, as well as Deadpool and Deadpool 2 back-to-back. I’m not sure how I’ll handle the next week with that.
Books did pretty well as well. I managed to get through the complete works of Sherlock Holmes, which I had been working on for quite a while. This has freed me up to start re-reading the X-Wing series of books and for whatever I’m going to do after New Years.
Video games didn’t do as well as I’d hoped. I did manage to play The Old Republic a bit — finishing a Smuggler character and starting a Dark Side Marauder character — but I barely played anything else (I played Steins;Gate for an hour or two before deciding that it wouldn’t really work for my vacation). I have some plans to play Spellcasting 201/301 and Elsinore before I go back.
Projects didn’t go well at all, as I didn’t do one thing on them. I’m hoping to schedule them in and work on them regularly when my vacation ends, but considering how that’s gone in the past I’m not that hopeful about it.
On the other hand, things outside of these categories worked pretty well. I had a lot of appointments early in my vacation that I did manage to get completed, and managed to get a lot of straightening up and cleaning done. I had bought a living room stand and some bookcases from Ikea, and managed to get those assembled and stocked, meaning that things are a lot less cluttered and, more importantly, that I have more places to put things so that I get less clutter. I also managed to get a fair bit of exercise — generally two but at least one walk a day — and cooking and the like.
We’ll see how the last two weeks go.
